Climbing Courses

Intro to Trad

Learning traditional climbing, in which little or no fixed protection is installed on a route, can be a rewarding but intimidating process. Bighorn Mountain Guides assists those who are learning to broaden their outdoor adventure skills by teaching the basics of traditional climbing. In this two-day course, participants will learn how to place and remove traditional gear, how to assess a placement’s effectiveness, how to belay and manage rope for traditional climbing, how to build and assess anchors, how to rappel, and techniques for moving in cracks. This is the perfect course for those who have a specific climbing objective on the horizon and want to be prepared, or for those who live in an area with traditional climbs, but who aren’t sure how to get started. Contact us today for more information on turning your trad climbing dreams into reality.
